A radio clock is an electronic combination of a digital alarm clock and an AM/FM radio. This type of alarm clock radio is usually a stationary, plug-in device that is used as a bedside alarm clock, but may also be battery powered for use during travel or overnight stays. These devices sometimes contains a receiver that receives radio signals from an atomic clock or other time standard, which helps make it a reliable and accurate timepiece.

An alarm clock radio usually contains a built-in alarm that can be set to sound at a specific time. Some of these devices will allow the radio to activate as the alarm instead of the usual beeping sound at the designated alarm time. Modern radio clocks usually have more features than just a digital clock and a radio. These features might include built-in compasses, lanterns, thermometers, and sometimes even an integrated CD player.

An alarm clock is a clock that is designed to give out a loud sound at a designated time, usually to wake people up or to remind them of an important event or happening. To stop the sound, a button is usually pressed, but most clocks automatically stop the alarm sound if left unattended long enough. Most alarm clocks that are used nowadays is the LED alarm clock. The standard settings would be the time, the date and the alarm.

Other clocks have more advanced features like radios and even CD’s. My LED alarm clock has a 0.6″ green LED display with AM/FM radio, can play audio CD’s and has a programmable CD memory. It runs on electrical power but has a battery backup to ensure that it will always give the right time. The alarm wake up modes includes the radio, CD playback and buzzer with a timer snooze, sleep and wake.

We hate them but we need them. We have lived with alarm clocks all our lives and it is a love hate relationship. We dutifully set it at a particular time at night to make sure we wake up on time in the morning. But when it does what it has to do in the morning it is with a grudging feeling that we give in. It seems that our life is ruled by the alarm clock.

The only way to beat the alarm clock is to have fun with it. Here are a few ways:

An alarm clock that jumps 3 feet from the night stand and moves away as it continues to beep. You will be forced to stand up to make it stop.
An alarm clock in the shape of a dumb bell that will not stop beeping until you have done 30 reps.
An alarm clock that wakes you up with the smell of bacon. I bet that will make you jump out of bed.

Ever since I can remember I was always fascinated with time pieces. Even before I could identify the numbers in the watch, I was wearing one already. For my ninth birthday I wanted a digital radio alarm clock. It was my first alarm clock. I still remembered it vividly. I chose it from a row of novelty alarm clocks in the mall.

It was a beautiful alarm clock. It had seven different kinds of alarm. It had AM and FM. I still remember setting it in my favorite FM station and waking up to my favorite songs. Even up to now some of my favorite songs were the ones I heard back in 1981. Novelty alarm clocks like the one I had are great items to have.
