Aside from the attractive designs of a cuckoo clock’s housing, another appealing feature is the music box. The hours are announced in the form of a tune. This is made possible through a system of pipes and bellows. There are two kinds of movements – one day or 30 hour movement and eight day movement. Eight day cuckoo clocks only have to be wound up every 8 days.
Some models chime every half hour and play a music piece every full hour. Music pieces that are played every full hour vary from hour to hour. This gives you an idea of the time even if you are not in view of the face of the clock. There is a wide variety of designs to choose from. In the same way, there are varieties of musical tunes to choose from.
