    • ]]>     A good friend of mine is a collector of quality and unique timepieces. She has been collecting these items for many years now, growing fond of them as her father is also passionate on the same things. This is why most of her friends, including me, would often give her timepieces which she could add to her collection. Not only are they affordable, they are also easy to purchase to get her to smile.

    For this Christmas, I got her a black forest cuckoo clock which I got on sale online. She often tells us that she can never get enough of black forest cuckoo clocks, as these are just intricately made. I am sure this will surely be a great addition to her collection. Now she may have to look for additional areas where she can store the items she will receive this Christmas!

    • ]]>     One of the more recognizable of the many designs of clocks is the cuckoo clock. This was a clock, usually pendulum regulated that strikes the hour using bellows and pipes. It is made more interesting with the striking of a gong or the call of a cuckoo bird. Cuckoo clocks remained true to the original mechanism used by the original black forest cuckoo clock. It has also more or less retained the classic chalet design.

    The first cuckoo clock was made in Black Forest, a region in southwest Germany. While we still see replicas of the basic house designs used, there has been a lot of development in the matter of case designs. There are still designs that display carved leaves and animal heads which became symbolic of Black Forest. Modern versions are made of different materials and geometric shapes. There is also less carving. The clocks are usually flat and smooth.

    • ]]>     I have always had a fascination with clocks. One of the more fascinating clocks I have encountered are German cuckoo clocks. The cuckoo clock actually originated in the heart of the Black Forest in Schoenwald, Germany. It was invented in the year 1737. One of the world’s largest cuckoo clocks in the shape of a typical Black Forest house can be seen in Schwarzwald.

    The design of a cuckoo clock is now conventional. Most are carved and designed to hang in a wall. The cuckoo clock is typically pendulum driven. The image of the bird coming out of the house making the cuckoo sound is the typical idea that we have of a cuckoo clock. Listening to a cuckoo clock brings back a lot of memories when I was a child.

    • ]]>     What would do the world become if there was no machine that can keep track of time. People would have no means of knowing when it’s time to eat, sleep or work. There would be no unifying time frame where the people in a company go to and leave work. There would be no way of knowing the right moment for the sun rise or sunset.

    Without clock there would surely be some sort of chaos. That is why it’s good that people came up with it. Clocks give people a sense of direction. It makes them to things at the right moment. Clocks like the German cuckoo clock remind people that they should be doing something useful.
